Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions that usually determine whether a project moves forward, stalls, or gets expensive for the wrong reasons.

Fit and Scope

The work we're built for.

What types of projects do you specialize in?

We focus on complex residential work: whole-home renovations, additions, overbuilds, and custom homes where structure, systems, finishes, and multiple trades all have to be coordinated as one job.

What areas do you serve?

We serve the greater Charlotte and Lake Norman regions, with most of our work concentrated in Charlotte, specifically Myers Park, Cotswold, SouthPark, and Providence Plantation. Around Lake Norman, most of our work is concentrated out Brawley School Road in The Point as well as Cornelius in The Peninsula.

What is your typical project size?

Our projects generally range from $150,000 to $2 million+, with custom homes and complex whole-home renovations often exceeding that.

How do I know my project is a good fit for Revival Construction?

If the project is large enough that early cost modeling, design coordination, trade input, and a dedicated project team will materially reduce risk, you are in our lane. Our Are We a Fit? page spells out the other qualifiers.

What sets you apart from other builders?

We are builders first. Our strongest work is complicated residential construction that needs a contractor involved early: structural changes, additions, older homes, high-detail interiors, and projects where the budget has to stay connected to the design as it develops.

Design and Pre-Construction

Before a hammer swings.

Do you handle design in-house?

No, and that's deliberate. We're builders. In-house design paints clients into one box, so we match each client with the right architect and interior designer for their specific project from professionals we know and trust. We run early alignment between builder, architect, and designer so your vision, budget, and timeline stay on track from day one, and our pre-construction agreement includes coordination with them throughout planning.

Do you provide cost estimates or ballparks before design?

We start every project with a discovery call to understand your vision, walk through similar past projects, and give you a rough idea of what a project like yours could cost. An accurate estimate requires a fully defined scope and detailed selections, which takes time and planning, so we don't offer free detailed estimates. Instead, we invite clients into a Pre-Construction Retainer, which includes budgeting, scheduling, value engineering, and coordination between builder, architect, and interior designer.

What is the Pre-Construction Retainer, and why is it necessary?

The Pre-Construction Retainer lets us begin the detailed planning phase of your project. We collaborate with you, your architect, and your interior designer to define the full scope, make selections, and align the design with your budget. We explore pricing options where needed, build a realistic schedule, and offer value engineering to make sure there aren't surprises once construction starts.

Do you help with design or selections during pre-construction?

Yes. We guide clients through the entire design and planning process. We assemble the right team of architects and interior designers for your goals, and we coordinate closely so every selection lines up with your budget, schedule, and design intent before construction begins.

Can you work with my interior designer or architect?

Yes. If you already have an architect or interior designer you trust, we are happy to work with them. We define roles early and keep cost, constructability, and schedule in the conversation while the design develops.

Do you help with finding land or evaluating it before purchase?

We ask that clients acquire land before engaging us. Once you've acquired the property, we can assess how it fits the design and construction needs.

Money and Contracts

How the number works.

How are your projects priced?

We use fixed-price contracts. Before construction begins, we work with you to finalize selections and scope, so the pricing is locked in with no hidden surprises.

Do you charge for requested extras?

Yes. Any change after the contract is signed requires a documented requested extra, with revised pricing and schedule updates. Everything is documented and approved before the work begins.

Do you offer financing or assist with loans?

We don't offer in-house financing. Many of our clients work with banks or lenders that specialize in renovation or custom construction loans. We encourage you to talk with your financial advisor or lender early in the process to understand your options.

During Construction

Living through the build.

Do I need to move out during a large renovation?

Yes. For large-scale renovations and additions, we require clients to move out. It keeps the job site safe and lets us move faster. You'll still get daily job site updates, including photos and notes, through our project management platform, with 24/7 access to the schedule and messaging.

How long does a project usually take?

That depends on scope. Large-scale renovations and additions typically take 5 to 8 months, while custom homes typically take 10 to 14 months after the pre-construction phase. We track timeline and schedule through Buildertrend.

How will I stay informed during construction?

You'll get daily logs with photos through Buildertrend, with 24/7 access to your schedule, progress, and messages in one place. If you're traveling or living elsewhere during construction, you won't miss a thing.

Credentials and Planning Ahead

On the record, up front.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We're fully licensed and insured in North Carolina with an unlimited general contractor license, which lets us work on both residential and commercial projects. We focus on premium residential work.

How far in advance should we contact you?

Smaller projects can usually be scheduled about two months out. Larger-scale renovations and custom builds typically need three to four months of lead time, so pre-construction planning gets the attention it deserves.

What kind of warranty do you offer?

Manufacturer warranties on systems, appliances, and materials are passed through to you in writing, and we handle the claims. Twelve months after you move back in, we walk the house with you and take care of the punch list. Past clients also know they can still call: we've been known to swing by years later to tighten a cabinet hinge or adjust a door, because we stay attached to our work, and our clients.
