Inside a SouthPark Overbuild: Reimagining a Foxcroft Classic

Some homes do not need to be replaced. They need to be unlocked. That was the case with this Foxcroft home in SouthPark. The location was perfect and the bones were solid, but the original layout was a series of small, dark rooms that fought the way a modern family actually wants to live.
Over about five months, our team took it down to the studs in the right places and built up where it counted. The result is a whole-home transformation that respects the character of the neighborhood while delivering the space, light, and finish level a modern family actually lives in.
Project at a glance: SouthPark / Foxcroft, Charlotte. Whole-home renovation with a garage overbuild and rear dormer addition. About five months start to finish. Interior design by Tyler Interiors.
Building up, not out
The biggest move was an overbuild above the existing garage, capped with a standing-seam metal roof, plus a rear dormer addition that pulled natural light deep into the second floor. On an established SouthPark lot, building up instead of out was the smart play. It preserved the yard, kept the mature landscaping intact, and stayed within the setbacks while still adding the square footage the family wanted.
That new space became some of the most-used in the house. The vaulted bonus room is a clean example. White oak built-ins, a waterfall desk, and a sculptural light fixture turn what used to be roof framing into a bright, functional retreat.

A cinema room with real personality
Not every luxury feature has to be quiet. The home theater leans into mood. Deep navy walls, custom geometric wallpaper, and a walnut ceiling halo set the tone, with brass double-cone sconces and a low, comfortable sectional finishing the room. It is the kind of space that turns movie night into an event.
Spa-level baths, three different ways
The bathrooms show what custom really means. No two are alike, and each one was detailed to the millimeter. The primary bath is calm and timeless: a freestanding soaking tub, a wall-mount filler, plantation shutters, and a marble floor warmed by an antique runner. Elsewhere, a white oak vanity pairs with Carrara marble and a brushed brass sconce, while a guest bath takes a bolder turn with an emerald green vanity, honed stone, and matte black fixtures.
Materials chosen to age well
On a whole-home project, the finishes are what you live with for decades, so we steered toward materials that earn their keep. White oak runs through the floors, cabinetry, and built-ins. Carrara marble and honed stone anchor the baths. A standing-seam metal roof caps the overbuild, and brass hardware ties the rooms together. Nothing trendy for the sake of it, just classic choices executed cleanly.
The details that hold it together
The trim work is where a renovation like this either sings or falls apart. Nested plaster archways frame the hallway to the primary suite, grounded by white oak floors and a brass sunburst fixture. It reads as original to the home, which is exactly the point. Throughout the second floor, layered paint colors, custom drapery, and considered lighting turn ordinary bedrooms into rooms with a point of view.

Built the Revival way
A project this involved lives or dies on communication. The homeowners stayed informed the entire way through, with daily updates and photos through Buildertrend and a schedule they could check anytime. We coordinated closely with the interior design team so every selection landed, and a fixed price meant no surprises along the way. That structure is what lets an ambitious scope come together without the chaos that usually comes with it.
This home is a SouthPark renovation in the truest sense. We kept what made it special and built the rest to match.
