WAXHAW WHOLE HOME RENOVATION | WAXHAW, NC

This was a whole home renovation in Waxhaw, NC, just south of Charlotte, and north of a million dollars in scope. By the time we finished we had touched nearly every room in the house.

We took the kitchen back to studs and rebuilt it around two islands, with full custom cabinetry, inset doors on the perimeter runs, quartzite countertops, a decorative tile backsplash and a white oak vent hood. The dining room got an entire wall of custom built in bar cabinetry with a wine refrigerator and stone counters. In the living areas we built a plaster fireplace from scratch, set a solid white oak mantel beam into it, and framed arched built ins on either side with lighting wired in during construction. White oak flooring runs continuously through the main level, with white oak accents carried into the millwork.

Not all of it was finish work. We removed a load bearing wall to open up the floor plan, added new windows and doors on the exterior, and converted a bay of the garage into conditioned space. That expanded the footprint of the house and gave the family a walk in laundry, a mudroom and a drop zone they use every day. We also remodeled the powder bath and renovated the detached guest house in full as an age in place suite.
